With great pride, the Pro Loco Ferrara presents the 10th edition of what has become the largest fair in the historic center of Ferrara, and the only Italian event entirely dedicated to the excellences of the Estense Lands. This event, recognized as a De.Co event, is awaiting recognition as one of the Sagre di Qualità.

Autumn Ducale in the Estense Lands is a project initiated by Pro Loco Ferrara in 2015 to promote the artistic, cultural, and gastronomic heritage of the lands that once belonged to the Este Duchy. A unique and special event, this year will see the participation of 15 Pro Loco from the provinces of Ferrara, Rovigo, Reggio Emilia, Mantova, Marche, and Salento.

This event provides an important opportunity to learn about and preserve local traditions, promoting sustainable food consumption, biodiversity, and culinary excellence. The event will take place in the magnificent Ducal Courtyards of Ferrara, with over 100 exhibitors showcasing the region’s food, crafts, and traditions.

On October 19-20, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM, Ferrara’s Piazza Castello and Largo Castello will come alive with autumn markets where you can taste and purchase a variety of local delicacies. Expect to find traditional dishes like Testarolo with sausage and chestnut ragù, Cappellacci di Zucca (pumpkin ravioli), Salama da Sugo, and much more. Don’t miss out on local wines, including DOC wines from Bosco Eliceo and Lambrusco from Modena. Discover ancient grains, organic products, artisan cheeses, and traditional balsamic vinegar.

For two days, Ferrara will revive its Ducal past. Costumed knights and ladies will return to the city’s streets, performing medieval and Renaissance dances, accompanied by music and flag performances. Witness the reconstruction of a 14th-century village and explore the ancient crafts and trades that once thrived there. The event includes historical parades, dances, and artillery displays, giving visitors a true sense of Ferrara’s magnificent past.

• October 19, 15:30 & October 20, 10:30: Visit the magnificent Estense Castle, one of Ferrara's most iconic landmarks. Explore its history, from the medieval era to the Renaissance, with insights into contemporary art exhibitions.

• October 20, 15:30: Take a guided tour of Ferrara’s medieval center, where you’ll discover its Byzantine roots, its role as a port city, and the rise of the Este family’s power.
